Rick Bessette

A native Vermonter, Rick Bessette's first book of poetry, A Vermonter's Heritage: Listening to the Trees is informed by  a lifetime surrounded by Shelburne Farms' immense natural beauty. Three generations of the Bessette family have lived and worked at Shelburne Farms and the heartening affect of nature on the human spirit is reflected in his grateful and down-to-earth poetry.

Rick and his wife Candy live in Shelburne village and he continues to work on and around Shelburne Farms, as do their two sons, Jeremy and Travis.
