Manuscript Guidelines

Wind Ridge Publishing is committed to publishing excellence throughout Northern Vermont and the Champlain Valley. Based in Shelburne, Vermont our company facilitates the advance of information and exchange of ideas through our newspapers, magazines, websites and books to residents and tourists of Vermont.  We also provide excellent opportunities to Vermont authors through our "Voices of Vermonters" book division.

Submission guidelines for Voices of Vermonters books:

  • A letter of introduction.
  • A brief synopsis of your book. Include a list of chapter contents or a detailed book outline along with one or two sample chapters. 
  • A description of the book's specific target audience and where these readers can be found. Please be specific, for example, "Everyone who loves poetry will buy my book in bookstores" is inadequate. "My book about the flight and nesting habits of the bluebird in New England will appeal primarily to reader's 50-plus-years-old, and members of the Audubon Society or the Nature Conservancy."
  • If your book will be illustrated, describe what the illustrations are, how many and who might produce them.  If possible, include representative illustrations or photographs.
  • Include your full contact information including email address and telephone number.
  • Send electronic or duplicate photocopies of manuscripts only; do not send any original materials. We will return the submitted materials to you if you include a specific request along with a self-addressed envelope and appropriate US postage.

When submitting a proposal, please remember that it may take up to two months for the editors to review. If your manuscript or proposal is inappropriate for our traditional book division, WRP will return your copy in your self-addressed stamped envelope within three weeks of receipt.  WRP also offers a work-for-hire option and terms for self-publishing writers with manuscripts, that may not fit VOV parameters and present needs.
